SLECIC Empowering Sri Lankan Exporters & Migrants

Sri Lanka’s export sector plays a vital role in strengthening the country’s external economy, supporting overseas employment, and connecting local businesses with global markets.

In a recent live broadcast programme “Jathika Mehewara,”  Prof. (Dr.) A. Aruna Shanthaarchchi, Chairman and Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC), highlighted SLECIC’s role in supporting exporters through risk protection, financial facilitation, and enhanced market confidence.

During the discussion, the CMD explained how SLECIC acts as an invisible shield for Sri Lankan exporters by protecting businesses against international non-payment risks, buyer defaults, and uncertainties in global trade.

He further highlighted SLECIC’s international buyer verification networks, which assist exporters in assessing overseas buyers and making informed decisions when entering new markets, particularly supporting SMEs in expanding their global reach.

The interview also featured the “APARA” loan scheme, which facilitates access to departure loans of up to LKR 3 million for eligible migrant workers without the need for personal property as collateral, contributing towards increased foreign exchange inflows.

SLECIC continues to strengthen Sri Lanka’s export ecosystem by empowering businesses, reducing international trade risks, supporting overseas employment initiatives, and building confidence in global markets.
