The Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC) proudly celebrated its 46th anniversary, marking over four decades of unwavering commitment to empowering Sri Lanka’s export community. The milestone event was held under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Aruna Shanthaarachchi, Chairman and Managing Director of SLECIC, with the esteemed presence of Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, as the guest speaker. The event was further graced by Mr. Mahinda Siriwardana, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, who attended as the chief guest.

SLECIC, incorporated under Parliament Act No. 15 of 1978 and operating under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, has been a beacon of support for Sri Lankan exporters since commencing operations on February 8, 1979. Over the years, SLECIC has played a pivotal role in safeguarding exporters against non-payment risks and facilitating trade expansion through its innovative product solutions.

The anniversary celebration saw the participation of distinguished dignitaries, including heads of leading banks and financial institutions such as Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, People’s Leasing, Regional Development Bank, SANASA Development Bank, NDB, Pan Asia Bank, and Cargills Bank. Exporters representing diverse corporate sectors also attended, underscoring the strong partnerships that have contributed to SLECIC’s success. The event served as an opportunity to express gratitude to these stakeholders for their invaluable support over the years.

A key highlight of the celebration was the acknowledgment of SLECIC’s dedicated staff, whose relentless efforts and commitment played a crucial role in making the event a resounding success. Their contributions continue to drive the organization forward in its mission to provide essential financial protection and support to the export sector.
